A simple, no-bake treat for the holidays. These buggers aren't pretty, but they always disappear quickly from the cookie tray.
You can always find the recipe because it's secretly located on the side panel of Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal boxes. Substitute corn flakes (any cheapy brand will do) for the Krispies, add a dash of green food coloring and top with a few **Red Hots** for holly berries.
6 cups corn flakes
3 Tbsp butter
10.5 ounce bag marshmallows, plus another cup for extra gooeyness (trust me)
splash of green food coloring
Red Hots, optional **DO NOT USE RED HOTS if someone in your family has a nut allergy...manufactured on the same equipment as peanuts at the Brach's factories. =BOOOO!
Makes 12 wreaths
Set out wax paper, butter lightly, unless you don't mind eating a little paper with your wreath. Keep the butter dish next to the wax paper for buttering fingers between each wreath. Melt butter and marshmallows. Stir in food coloring. Mix with 6 cups corn flakes until all flakes are coated evenly. Working quickly, take 1/2-3/4 cup blob of mixture, set on wax paper. With buttered fingertips, gently form a wreath. Butter fingertips, repeat. Add Red Hots. Allow to set up and rest open to air for a few hours. Store on wax paper in airtight container.
I haven't seen these in a very long time! I think they are beautiful and know they must be tasty. I hope you have a blessed Christmas with family and friends.
