Butterscotch Pecan Revel Bars

{Chocolate Revel Bars} will always be one of my favorite bar recipes, but I switched it up the fudge center with a gooey butterscotch one.  My family really enjoyed these and they taste a lot like a chewier version of {this cookie}.

Butterscotch Pecan Revel Bars
recipe adapted by Stella B's Kitchen from The New Better Homes and Garden Cook Book
printer friendly version

14 Tbsp butter, softened  (take 2 Tbsp off 2 sticks butter to use below)
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal

1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips
1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk  (1 1/4 cups)
2 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp butter

1/2 cup chopped pecans

Beat 14 Tbsp butter and brown sugar until well blended.  Add baking soda, eggs and vanilla and blend well.  Add remaining flour and both kinds oats, blend until incorporated.

In a saucepan, heat over low the sweetened condensed milk, butterscotch chips and butter until melted and smooth.  Stir in vanilla.

Press 2/3 of the dough mixture in the bottom of an ungreased 15x10x1 inch pan.  Spread butterscotch filling on top dough layer.  Dot remaining pieces of dough on top butterscotch filling. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.  Cool.  Cut into bars.
