I've had this recipe bookmarked for months and finally got an opportunity to try them with some leftover ingredients. These little sandwiches would be perfect with Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner rolls, your holiday ham and Swiss or provolone cheese. I'm also thinking little turkey and Chipotle cheddar sliders with cranberry sauce sound pretty great too!
I first found this recipe {HERE} but scaled back the recipe and adjusted it to make it slightly lower in calories and fat. This is one of those recipes you can't really screw up and you can go in what ever direction you want to make it your own. My kids loved these {though they were very skeptical at the sight of the poppy seeds when lunch was served...but quickly got over that as soon as they tried them}!
You can assemble these a day ahead and refrigerate the sliders overnight before adding the buttery topping before baking if you like.
Ham and Cheese Sliders
recipe by Stella B's Kitchen
printer friendly version
8 dinner rolls, King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls work well
2 Tbsp light mayonnaise
1 tsp Dijon mustard
cracked pepper to taste
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp poppy seeds
1 Tbsp minced onion
3 tsp Dijon mustard
ham for 8 small sandwiches
about 4 ounces Swiss or provolone cheese
Split dinner rolls in half. Combine mayo and mustard, divide among the 8 rolls and spread on each cut side of the tops and bottoms of the rolls. Top with ham, then desired cheese. Sprinkle with pepper. Place the top on the slider.
Melt butter and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, minced onion and mustard. With a small brush, lightly coat the bottoms of the sliders and place in a baking dish or heavy sheet pan closely together. Brush remaining sauce on the tops and sides of the sliders. Cover with foil.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes or until cheese has melted. Uncover and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until sliders are slightly browned. Serve hot.
